Appeals court vindicates attorney Briggs

A state appeals court has deleted suggestions that local attorney Cory Briggs might have engaged in criminal behavior from a ruling the court issued last month.
An attorney for Briggs called the move by the Fourth District Court of Appeal a notable vindication for his client and a rare instance of a court correcting itself.
“It’s extraordinarily unusual for a court to go back and modify its language in this respect,” said Paul Pfingst, Briggs’ lawyer and a former district attorney. “One has to appreciate the court was willing to acknowledge and correct its mistake. Cory is delighted the court withdrew some of that harsh language.”...
